My favorite verse was the Doubtful Duckling p[14-15]. I am bias to this particular one because it was one of my favorite bedtime stories as a child.  Singer’s reverso poem was able to flawlessly express the duckling’s internal struggle.  Masse’s illustrations throughout the book flow seamlessly and complement the poems in a very ingenious was. This illustration captures the essence of the poem to perfection.  The duckling sees himself as a swan; the swan’s reflection becomes a duckling.  I had the opportunity to read and share this book along a small group of 6th grade students.  It was gratifying experience see my students, who have an aversion to poetry, enjoy poetry so much! This will definitely be a book I can use to capture my students’ attention during a poetry lesson. I think they would have so much fun trying to come up with a reverso poem of their own.  Here is my attempt at a reverse poem:
